Service Description

Course Description: In this supportive course, we explore the philosophy of science in ancient Greece. We cover five topics: (1) The ancient Greek's five elements of matter, (2) universal truth, (3) human agreement, (4) space, and (5) Euclid's elements. As part of the exploration, we read and discuss ancient documents, discover how reality can be stranger than fiction, and relate the ancient topics to contemporary information found online. For the final project each student will explore more deeply one of the five topics and make a final presentation describing the thinking at that time and how it compares with modern thinking. About This Mentor: Experienced Professor with a demonstrated history of working in the higher education industry and with conducting research in dynamics. Skilled in dynamics of devices, methods, and systems. Strong background in physics, engineering, design, and modelling.
